White Men’s Caucus

In-Person | Columbia River Gorge | September 19 – 22, 2022

We’re turning 25 this year and we’re celebrating with a return to our roots.

Our cofounders Bill Proudman and Michael Welp join forces again to co-lead our signature program, our renowned White Men’s Caucus, in the place it all started—Bill’s home at the base of the pristine Mount Adams wilderness.

This innovative white-male-only retreat shatters the myth that white men don’t have an important role to play in creating and sustaining inclusive work environments. The 3.5-day Caucus helps white men more fully see and understand their culture and its impact on others and themselves. Our signature experience creates an environment where white men, often for the first time, can openly explore their questions, confusions, hopes and concerns related to “diversity issues” and build critical leadership skills and behaviors. This Caucus has successfully helped hundreds of white male leaders become more effective partners in their workplaces.

Our anniversary edition of the White Men’s Caucus goes deeper and invited alumni and committed inclusive leaders to dive into what it means to be a White male leader in a post-2020 world.

This will be an intimate, immersive experience, intentionally free of distraction. We’re going to go deep in order to go far to answer today’s call for leadership that matches the magnitude of our times.

Participants have the opportunity to:

  • Gain a systemic perspective and understanding of the costs of racism, sexism, heterosexism, oppression and unexamined privilege.
  • Recognize themselves as both individuals and as members of the white male group.
  • Become a more committed and active partner in diversity efforts.
  • Learn to create supportive systems that enhance learning and inclusion.
  • Develop specific personal and professional action plans.

The schedule:

  • Day 1: 4pm-9pm PST (includes meals and breaks)
  • Day 2: 7:30am-9:30pm PST (includes meals and breaks)

Getaway Mount Adams is a collection of tiny cabins nestled at the base of one of the Pacific Northwest’s iconic volcanoes—Mount Adams—located along the Columbia River Gorge.

Equipped with everything you need and nothing you don’t, these cabins are intentionally WiFi-free so you can dive in, distraction-free, into clear night skies … and into your inclusive leadership journey. This is a unique and minimalist experience primed for connection with yourself and what deeply motivates you to be the change agent you can be.

On Location

During the day and for all of your homestyle meals, you’ll be invited into Bill Proudman’s home, a spacious and inviting mountain cabin that looks directly onto Mount Adams.

Less than a mile on foot from your Getaway cabin, Bill’s Glenwood home has WiFi and comfort to spare. Come early or stay late to take care of the essentials.

The Getaway has two accessible cabins with ramp, walk-in shower and larger living space. They do book up quickly and will need to be reserved ASAP. Both the Getaway and Bill’s home are accessible on foot or vehicle. We will happily shuttle you between locations.
